Well the weather is starting to feel like spring. Hard to believe we are beginning our last few weeks of second grade. There are several fun activities coming up.
First, our class is looking to fill our Grade Level Baskets for the Raffle during the International Festival. The Grade Level whose basket brings in the most bids will be rewarded a special prize. Help us get there by sending in donations relating to our theme. Our theme is Kid Chef. Students can also bring in a cash donation of any amount to be used towards the final total. Bring donations to class or drop them off at the office. Make sure they are labeled with our Grade Level!
Your child has a flyer about the International Festival on May 18th in their mail tonight.
Also Mr. Beattie is requesting field day volunteers on May 23rd. There is a flyer about that as well going home today.
We wrapped up geometry in math and are starting fractions this week. In reading, we are combining all that we have learned about fiction stories and working in a group to create a display board about a book. All work will be done in class. There is a letter requesting supplies should your child need something special for their board.
In writing, we have started trying to be poets. We will learn about the tools poets use and try writing several different types of poems.
The kids did a wonderful job on their persuasive commercials. I am working on trying to send links to view the commercials so you can see their hard work.
This will be the last week for spelling tests. Thanks for working with your children on the words every week and helping them get ready for third grade.
Thank you for all the sweet treats today! This is the best class!
