Hello and Happy Friday! We have had a FANTASTIC week in our classroom! We have hit the ground running with our academics, and I am sure your children are coming home exhausted. This is one of the primary reasons we don't assign homework in first grade. We feel that we work them very hard for 7 hours each day, and when they go home, we hope that they relax, refresh, read and rejuvenate!  Soon I will be sending home Lexia Login information, and that will be a way that your child can get in some reading sk...

Last Message: Solar Eclipse

Dear Mary Castle families, On Monday, August 21st, the world will be experiencing a solar eclipse.  Although Indianapolis is not in the path to view “totality” it will begin at 11:57am and conclude at 3:48pm.  Our zip code, 46256, will experience 91% darkness at 2:25 p.m.  While this is an incredible educational opportunity, it also presents a safety challenge as looking directly at the sun during the time of the eclipse, for even less than 30 seconds, can cause irreversible eye damage. Last Message: Mid-Morning Snack

Good morning 4th grade families, This year our daily schedule was rearranged slightly, making our lunch later. We eat at 12:25, making it about 5 hours from the start of our day until lunch. Students have mentioned several times how beneficial a snack around 10:30 would help them, and I agree. I think it would help them focus better during reading/writer’s workshop, and it could prevent any “hungry” bellyaches before lunch. This snack is NOT mandatory-it is simply an option for those who have a hard...
